Guardianship

A guardian is someone who makes legal decisions for another person who is unable to make those decisions on their own. A guardianship may be needed for a minor when the child no longer has a parent qualified to make legal decisions on his or her behalf. A guardianship for an adult person may be needed when he or she is unable to make and communicate responsible decisions regarding his or her personal care or finances due to a mental, physical or developmental disability.
