A Chapter 7 bankruptcy is the simplest and most common form of bankruptcy. A Chapter 7 bankruptcy eliminates (discharges) most types of unsecured debt. It is designed to give you a fresh start – so you can start over with a clean slate. A Chapter 7 bankruptcy is not a repayment plan. A Chapter 7 bankruptcy stops most collection actions against you and/or your property as soon as the bankruptcy petition is filed with the bankruptcy court.  It quickly puts an end to collection calls, creditor’s lawsuits, wage garnishments, frozen bank accounts and the like.
