A Chapter 13 Bankruptcy is a payment plan to protect your home, automobiles and other assets from your creditors, and, at the same time, reduce the amount you are required to pay to your unsecured creditors like credit card companies and medical care providers. It is possible under Chapter 13 of the Bankruptcy Code to stop mortgage foreclosure proceedings, lawsuits, creditor calls, and to require creditors to accept payment plans for past due amounts on mortgages, home equity loans, auto loans, medical bills, credit card debt and other types of financial obligations.
